Real Estate is the business of helping people. Owning a home is the American Dream to some. It can be the biggest investment people make in their lives, and it can involve difficult decision-making, knowledge on the market, and finding someone you trust to guide this process. Partnering with a local and neighborhood expert can make buying or selling your first home a breeze. That's why I'm so excited to be a REALTOR® in my neighborhood, South Boston. I love this city so much because of the people, community, businesses, and homes that we have here.
Southie is truly a special place. As I ran past the 30th birthday finish line a few years ago, I looked around and realized I was the only one of my friends left locally. I grew up in the suburbs in Norfolk, MA, and have strong family ties to Needham where both my mother and father and their families were born and raised. I know the privilege of growing up in Norfolk, and I loved my childhood there, but South Boston is different.
South Boston truly has a neighborhood feel, which is why despite not growing up here, this I've decided this is my patch. I am more than aware that today's Southie isn't the place true-locals remember- it's not even the same place it was when I moved here! But South Boston, although booming with growth and new developments, has preserved the neighborhood's true aestetic and beauty. You can still see where where this city came from, and the culture that's been preserved here.
My favorite thing to do is head out alone to different shops, dive bars, diners, or restaurants - places that have been around longer than I have, run by families who have deep roots in this city. Sitting down, welcoming conversation, and being genuinely curious about others' lives, businesss, and history here, makes me appreciate this neighborhood even more. It allows you to understand why long-time residents can be protective of it at times :)
I know I am very lucky to call not only Norfolk, but South Boston my home. I'm truly grateful that I decided to live and work here years ago when most of my friends headed out of the city. I attribute my happiness and overall quality of life to living here. Whether I was by the beach in City Point, or across from Gate of Heaven's hourly song, or walking between rows of West Broadway's repurposed historic buildings, I've always felt surrounded by beauty with my neighbors, who became friends. They will tell you their stories if you care to ask and listen, and this community will welcome you like it did me.
